Market Update: Why You Should Sell Now
We’re so close to the holidays, and I’m getting a flurry of questions from people wanting to know when the best time to sell is. They often ask, “Should I just wait until spring?”
I’m coming to you with some potentially surprising news in response: Right now is going to be one of the best times to list a home. Now, you may not want to list your home in the period between Christmas and New Year’s, but the winter is a fantastic time in general.
Already in December, we’ve seen several multiple-offer situations and there are a couple of reasons why.
About four to six months ago, there was a lot of negative information circulating in the media predicting a recession. With an upcoming general election, there will always be a flood of different messages from all sorts of people; perhaps the recession scare is just another agenda being pushed.
If you’ve been planning to sell in 2020, I want you to consider how beneficial it will be to not do what everyone else does by waiting.
The fact is, in Seattle, we have an extremely healthy economy. There are more than 1,000 jobs being created a week in Seattle and Bellevue just in the tech sector alone! We still have far more people coming into our metro area for jobs than leaving, and interest rates are incredibly low.
Furthermore, inventory is also very low. We’re looking at 1.5 to 1.75 months right now, depending on what county you’re in. This means that if your home is on the market, all eyes are going to be on you.
If you’ve been planning to sell in 2020, I want you to consider how beneficial it will be to not do what everyone else does by waiting. Get ahead of the game and list this winter.
