Spooky Homes in Bellevue and Their Haunting Stories

From ghostly footprints to restless footsteps, some stories still give me chills…even after selling homes for years.

With Halloween just around the corner, I’ve been thinking about some of the unusual experiences I’ve had in real estate over the years. Certain homes seem to have a presence of their own, leaving us (and the people we work with) wondering what’s real and what isn’t. I want to share two stories that still give me chills.

The first happened about eight years ago during a concierge service project, where my team and I helped clients get their homes ready for sale with renovations and updates.

This particular client is a friend of mine who had lived in the house for years, and when we met, we agreed the home could use some cosmetic upgrades. Our team jumped in, painting the walls, installing new hardwood floors, and tackling other updates to make the home shine. With all the construction, dust was everywhere, covering every surface of the house.

One Monday morning, the client returned to meet with the contractor. During their conversation, the contractor casually said, “I noticed some footprints in the dust over the weekend. Maybe one of your kids was here?” The client froze. “I wasn’t here over the weekend,” he said, “and I don’t have any children.” The contractor explained that the footprints were unmistakable.

They were small, child-sized prints scattered all over the house, even on top of some dressers.

"Some homes just leave a mark that can’t easily be explained.”

At that moment, a memory came back to the client from about ten years earlier. He had woken up around 2 a.m. one night to find a little girl, maybe three years old, standing silently in the living room between him and the kitchen. They made eye contact for a few seconds, and then she vanished. Seeing the footprints brought that memory rushing back, leaving him deeply unsettled.

The second story is more recent and happened during the summer. We had purchased a property for investment, and the previous owner casually mentioned that her husband had passed away in the house several years prior. She told us she still felt his presence from time to time.

Back then, it seemed just a simple story, and we went ahead with repairs and updates to bring the house up to standard. During the renovation, we had a painter stay overnight to avoid a long drive home.

The next day, we asked him how it went. He said everything seemed fine during the day, but at night, he couldn’t sleep. Upstairs, the floors were incredibly creaky, and it sounded like someone was pacing back and forth between the rooms. All. Night. Long.

These stories didn’t happen directly to us, but they come from people we trust and homes we’ve worked on. Over the years, we’ve encountered enough experiences like this to make us stop and wonder. Whether it’s ghosts, lingering energy, or something else entirely, some homes leave a mark that can’t easily be explained.

If these stories spark your curiosity, or if you have questions about buying, selling, or renovating a home, just give me a call at 425-577-9814 or send an email to Wes@SellwithWes.com. I’m happy to share more with you.
