What Does Amazon’s Expansion Mean for Bellevue?

I know that all of you have probably heard the news about Amazon’s HQ 2. Are they moving to New York/D.C. and out of Seattle?

Here’s the great news: Not only are they bringing an HQ 2 over to the D.C./ Northern Virginia area, but they’ve also actually decided against their New York operation. 

Although they’re not calling it HQ 2, the executive team from Amazon is relocating to their Bellevue offices. This is going to add another 3,000 jobs in the area in the next three years. At least 6,000 jobs will be transferred to Bellevue by 2022.

What does this mean for our area as a whole? I think it’s a great thing. There was some concern that Amazon could be leaving the area a few years ago, but we see now that’s not the case. The job growth will still be staying local and the growth of the company will happen here in Bellevue. I think this is going to increase housing prices in the area and continued growth for the foreseeable future.
